Storming the Castle!
We got up early, packed everything in our backpacks, and headed towards the Prague Castle-checked out the famous Charles Bridge, snapped some shots, ate lunch on a terraced restaurant overlooking the castles vineyards, then headed for the train station for our next destination-Vienna.
We did not get in to Vienna until around 10pm that night due to delayed trains, etc. We booked a room in a nice hostel/B&B and crashed. The next morning the owners of the B&B made us coffee, bought us some donuts, and mapped out the cities hotspots for us to explore-even a unique wine region. Once again we mastered the underground metro and the cities trolley systems and checked out all the cities major sights. From there we headed to Grinzeg to a little wine region. It was really cute and Mike and I found a cute winery and had lunch. This only made us more anxious to hurry up and head south for Tuscany! We headed back to town and toured the Schonnbrun Castle owned by the Hapsburgs-it was amazing, nonetheless. With about 5-6 miles of walking-uphill in most cases-we were done for the day. We grabbed some Vienna style goulash and caprese and called it a night.
Budapest-Well, we came, we saw, we conquered. We left Vienna for a 3 hour train ride to Hungary. We hopped off the train and gave ourselves just a few hours to run around and check out as many of the cities sites as possible before we had to get on our train and head back to Salzberg ( Austria ). It was a bit crazy, however, we managed to see a few of the major sights and then got on the train and 8 hours later arrived back at our place in Maria Alm, Austria. Friday is our down time day to relax, recoup, do laundry, and get ready for tomorrows adventure-Venice!
