We got up that morning after Mike went in search for breakfast and hopped on the metro towards the Shoenbrun Palace. We took the Palace tour and looked for his and her royal magesties, let the kids play in the gardens, and then retired to the old town.
Sienna in desperate need of a nap decided to have a mega meltdown at lunch. It required a “straightening out” from daddy on a nice long walk through the old town. After that, she napped right on daddy’s shoulder and was magically quiet for the rest of the afternoon. We had a nice lunch and then and got to see a military exhibition with different types of helicopters.
Later that evening, we took a train and trolley to the Grinzing area of Austria. This area is the outer area of Vienna in which is the actual wine capital of Austria. We found an adorable small restaurant and winery, tucked ourselves in a corner booth, and had a great dinner. A violinist and an accordion player set the tone and soon thereafter a round, drunk, Austrian local took up to singing all of the songs that the musicians played. Words can’t even describe the scene that unfolded before us. Hopefully the pictures and eventually the compilation video will do it justice.
