Rome – Vini, Vidi, Vici (we came, we saw, we conquered)..and that’s an understatement. We woke up, had a great homemade breakfast and then trekked out to the Coliseum, Palantine Hill, and the Roman Forum.
TRAVEL TIP: Skip the crazy long line for the coliseum and go to Palantine Hill. Get you ticket and then march right over to the Coliseum. Same price and you are shaving 2-3 hours (at least) of waiting in line. BONUS! We did just that.
We paused for lunch and then made our 3pm tour to the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel.
TRAVEL TIP: Buy your tickets online. They are only 4 euros more but you will save hours of waiting in line. Also try to go after 3pm when it is less crowded. Touring St. Peters Square, the Vatican, and the Chapel were amazing. We had dinner at a nearby restaurant and when we got back to the apartment Jamie and I had a few glasses of wine. This was her last night before she flew back home. Bitter sweet to have her leave but happy to see her again soon.
