Nov. 16th – The Ring of Kerry, Kilarney

And we burn, burn, burn, into the Ring of Kerry. Up at dawn and out from Kilkenny onwards to our 2.5 hour trek to Killarney.  Killarney is a quaint place with so much to see in addition to the ring of Kerry. One day I would like to stay for more than 24 hours.  We zipped in and immediately went in search of the things that the Nona and Granddaddy Z were in search of.  Not only did we find them BUT they were right next door to one another! SCORE! Authentic Aran Island wool sweaters-CHECK, and hand crafted Irish fishing lures…CHECK! What were the odds of finding those two random places next door? Luckily for us or odds were good that day.  We grabbed some lunch and then ventured off to conquer the ring of Kerry.

The ring is gorgeous and even better with out all the tour buses.  We started in Kilorgin and made our way toward Port Macgee and then settled in Waterville.  We stopped off at an old castle ruin and a few other places along the way before we found an incredible B and B. Brookhaven right before Waterville.  Mary, the owner, was very sweet and accommodating. We were lucky enough to find her as it was her last night open for the season.  It was one of the nicest B and B’s we have stayed in and will look forward to coming back when we return.
