Not much to say, but an end to another adventure and one long flight and one long car ride. Half a day later we found ourselves back at home again in lovely VA Beach, Virginia. Home, sweet home!
Month: April 2016
April 8th – Nantwich to London (England)
Nantwich was a cute little down littered with winding canals and canal boats. As we wandered through the village and across the English countryside we dreamed of one day returning to spend months on those little ships getting lost in the sea of green and blue. One day soon perhaps. Driving back into London and…
April 7th – Bushmills (Northern Ireland) to Dublin (Ireland) to Hollyhead (Wales) to Nantwich (England)
Bushmills was amazing and definitely a town we want to revisit. The Giants Causeway alone was worth the trip and we will most certainly be back! Within 5 minutes it rained, sleeted, snowed, and was then sunny. The experience was breathtaking and one as a family we will never forget. After wrestling with giants we…
April 6th – Ayre, Cairnryan Port (Scotland) to Belfast, Carrickfergus, Giant’s Causeway, Bushmills (Northern Ireland)
This day started very funny with us waking up very early (about 5 a.m.) and heading down the stairs to be greeted by the B&B homeowner. She was in her nightgown and looked up at us from behind the desk with her glasses on her nose as we descended the stairs. She said in a…
April 5th – New Weatherly Travels Castle Record – 10+ in One Day! Aberdeen to Ayre (Scotland)
Well, we aren’t too sure and would have to go back in time to fact check, but we are pretty sure that we broke a Weatherly Travels record today by seeing at least 10+ castles (Drum, Crathes and Glamis to name a few) but none were as impressive as Dunnottar Castle in Stonehaven. This castle…
April 4th – Goodbye to Gammy – Glasgow, Edinburgh, St. Andrews and Aberdeen (Scotland) – The Plan is Finally Hatched and It Was a Giant in the Making
Today started early! Gammy’s flight was super early and we wanted to let the kids sleep so she kissed them goodbye, and we headed off to the airport leaving them in Mommy’s care. On the way to the airport, Gammy asked, “Are you guys really going to go to Italy?” “I said I don’t think…
April 3rd – Skye to Glasgow (Scotland) – Panoramic Views and Plans for Italy (That is Not a Typo!)
The drive from Skye was as good, if not better as the one to it! Driving back through Glen Shiel we snapped more pics and then turned south via the A82. A stop off near Spean Bridge provided a panoramic view of Ben Nevis (tallest mountain in Scotland) and a war memorial devoted to Scotland’s…
April 2nd – The Isle of Skye (Scotland) – Hiking the Fairy Pools, Old Man of Storr and Quiraing
As we woke to Day 2 on Skye the clouds parted, the heaves opened and we were blessed with a warm day and nothing but blue skies and sunshine. Wasting no time and hoping to capture Skye’s beauty, we had a hearty breakfast, hit the kid’s hotel playground and then jumped in the cars to…
April 1st – Tomich, Eilean Donan Castle, Isle of Skye (Scotland) – James Bond, Highlander and Gammy Goes Over a Cliff
The drive from Tomich to the famed Isle of Skye was a magical one. We ventured back past Castle Urquhart (still wondering if this was the inspiration for the Shrek mean king) and Loch Ness, along winding roads through forest of green that meandered by bubbling brooks, raging rivers, over old stony bridges from years…
